GeneralitŠ°

columnar cacti originating in Brazil and South America. They have fairly thin, slightly branched, erect stems, of a bright green color, sometimes bluish, and carry numerous clear, very sharp and thin spines; most of the species remains below 50 cm, but some species can even reach the meter. In mature age they produce flat cephali at the apex of the stems, consisting of a dense reddish hair, erect and rigid; in summer, numerous fleshy and waxy, tubular, pink, yellow or red flowers bloom from the cephalio, depending on the species, often gathered in small groups; in late summer these plants produce small elongated, bright-colored fruits. In general, the plant continues to grow even after producing the cephalio, from which flowers will bloom for 2-3 years.

Exposure

in the warm months it is good to place the arrojadoa in a partially shady place, avoiding direct sunlight; in winter place in full sun in a sheltered place, with a minimum temperature of not less than 10 ° C.
