Motozappa

The motor hoe or motor hoe was born out of the need of farmers and gardeners, who complained of machines that were too large for milling in narrow spaces, which had to be worked by hand. By now this tool is part of the collective imagination of people and not only of professionals; many people, even completely unrelated to agricultural work, decide to buy a motor hoe to work their garden. The handkerchiefs of land that were previously exclusively handmade, today can boast a positive re-evaluation thanks to the introduction of the rotary tiller. There have been many accidents caused by motor hoes, in fact the manufacturers have started a modernization aimed at it in terms of safety; in fact the producers always recommend never to go alone to work, but always accompanied by people capable of helping you in the event of an accident. It must be said that accidents were often caused by non-compliance with safety standards and lack of prudence and not by malfunctioning of the tools.

Characteristics of a motor hoe

The motor hoe is equipped with an engine, which can be powered by petrol or diesel. In addition to the engine, together with the handlebars and transmission parts, we find a cutter which is nothing more than a rotor equipped with hoes; the sizes of the drills are many, chosen by users according to their needs. We find cutters ranging from a minimum of 30 cm to a maximum of 130 cm. The motor hoe, unlike the rotary cultivator, receives the drive torque directly on the cutter, making it poorly adaptable to other jobs other than milling; the rotary cultivator instead receives traction on the front wheels, with the tiller driven by a shaft exiting the gearbox / differential unit, called the power take-off or P.T.O. Powers range from 3.5 hp up to a maximum of 10/12 hp; especially diesel engines tend to have higher powers, but at the same time the weight also increases considerably. The gearbox rarely offers more than 2 forward speeds plus the rear which are used in the field or for traveling on the road. The starting takes place by rope, but on the most modern products there is the possibility of having an electric one.
